Graffiti Campaign Update – 7/13/08 This week five more "Key Neighbors" signed up to help protect the neighborhood from graffiti vandals. That brings the total to 21 residents covering more than 1/3 of the entire Greater North Park area! Key Neighbors agree to provide an easy way for their immediate neighbors to report graffiti to the right source, get help following up, and make sure the graffiti is removed. This valuable participation takes less than one hour per month and can be done largely without leaving your home. The NPCA is still looking for "Key Neighbors" in any of the blocks between: - University and Upas from 30th to 32nd Street
- El Cajon Blvd and University from Park to Hamilton
Other efforts in this campaign can also use your support, so please let us know if you are interested. Please email

for details. Planning continues for Documentation Day on August 2nd and Paint-Out/Removal on August 9th.
Documentation Day is the day we will photograph, measure, and document every piece of graffiti in the community of North Park. Please email

if you want to come out and help. Digital cameras are a great asset for this effort. Partnerships to assist with publicity have been formed with Albertson’s and Vons and a total of 5 teams are already signed up to assist with Documentation Day. We are meeting with a large international supplier of environmentally-friendly removal products this week and continue to seek donations from interested businesses and organizations. Also, Urban Corps has agreed to dedicate its entire team and trucks on the day of the Paint Out/Removal and even send 4 people to help with Documentation Day. This is an enormous benefit to North Park and we are encouraged that other groups will continue to get involved. In the coming weeks we will be getting the word out to more neighbors, encouraging them to sign up for the Paint Out , become a "Key Neighbor", or just take a Graffiti Action Card—a card that contains the basic steps to take when you see graffiti. There are many areas that can benefit from even small donations of time, so if you can help in any way, please email
