The Burlingame Club was organized in 1913 with a stated mission to 'promote social fellowship among the residents of Burlingame and to stimulate the spirit of civic improvement'. It is the oldest, continuously active women's philanthropic organization in the city of San Diego. In recent years charitable efforts, such as the monies raised by the Burlingame Home Tour, have supported contributions of food, clothing, household items and cash to community organizations focusing on women and children in need, as well as educational and environmental causes in the North Park area of San Diego.
