Rebuilding Together at the NP Rec Center 4/19/08 

Thanks to Booz Allen Hamilton, Rebuilding Together San Diego, Councilmember Toni Atkins, and the North Park Community Association, about 100 volunteers repainted and replanted at the North Park Recreation Center on Saturday, April 19th, giving this well-used facility a much-needed facelift!

BAH House Captains Doug Devlin and Sarah Wynn led a large crew of BAH volunteers in their 10th Rebuilding Together project. Paint was donated by Vista Paint, coffee and breakfast were compliments of Starbucks, and lunch was provided by East San Diego Adult and Youth Soccer and by Kentucky Fried Chicken North Park.

NPCA Landscape Team Leaders Steve Saars and Karen Contreras planned an economical and hardy landscape plan for several planters and planting areas at the Rec Center. NPCA Volunteers showed up to clear out old, tired plants, prepare the ground, install dozens of new plants and mulch. Steve and Karen credit Mike of the  City's Park & Recreation Nursery on Pershing Drive for providing many plants at no cost.
